We’ve launched the SafeGraph Places API to allow data scientists and developers the ability to query and buy any segment of data across SafeGraph’s 7,000,000 points of interest.

Users of SafeGraph can now easily create and manage API keys, measure usage, and monitor all API requests within their SafeGraph account.

Getting started

To create an API key, first either create an account or sign in to the SafeGraph Shop.

From there, you will be able to:

  • Create API Keys
  • Measure usage
  • Monitor API requests
  • Manage your billing

All new users will receive $200 in free credits to use.

Pay-as-you-go pricing

The Places API is billed by the number of data records returned, at $0.05 USD per record.

Each record returned in a single API request will be billed separately. Please note that repeated queries for the same data will count as separate billable records.

Versioning

Data returned in the Places API is versioned. At SafeGraph, we update our Places data monthly. To see the which monthly release the response data is from, check the version attribute in every response.

Rate limits

The rate limit to the Places API is 1,000 requests per minute, and 100 requests per minute for bulk requests. A HTTP 429 response code will be returned for requests exceeding this limit.

Common query examples

To get started, visit the API docs page or create your first API key in the SafeGraph Shop.

SafeGraph is just a data company

That's it – that's all we do. We want to understand the physical world and power innovation through open access to geospatial data. We believe data should be an open platform, not a trade secret. Information should not be hoarded so that only a few can innovate.
