I have academic access to the places and patterns data. I need to match this data in with data from other sources such as Compustat. Matching on company names is very messy. I understand that the brand_info.csv file has company tickers, which would make the matching task much easier. I read that the file is available along to those who have access to the places data. Does that include people who have access through the academic program? If so, how would I go about downloading the file? Thanks!
Answering my own question - it looks like you can get the file by “purchasing” data through the web store. When you download core places files from the website, it comes along with the brand_info.csv file. I was accessing data through the API which is why I couldn’t figure out how to access the brand info data.
